Past Trips/ Expeditions

The first taste of what we do here at Singapore Polytechnic Adventurers - The Freshmen Orientation Camp.
It is here that our juniors meet together for the first time and experience what adventure is. This is the foundation of their bonding together as a team and also where they first pick up that first taste for adventure.
In this camp the freshies got to experience, rock climbing, abseiling, orienteering games and even kayaking.
However, this was afterall a camp and there was of course the extreme fun and games!

Gunung Stong Falls Hiking Expedition - Kelantan,Malaysia

Gunung Stong is a highland located in Kelantan, Malaysia. It towers at 1422m above sea level and is surrounded by limestone caves which makes a really good visit. It is situated at the end of Malaysia’s massive Titiwangsa mountain range and its main attraction is her seven tier Stong waterfall, reputated to be the highest in Southeast Asia with a staggering height of 990M. An astonishing waterfall, it cascades down from the limestone cover, making the view truly magical.

A 13 hour overnight train was taken to reach Gunung Stong and that was already cool and interesting enough. At Gunung Stong, a guide packed with all sorts of information about Gunung Stong and about hiking as a whole greeted you. What was truly unforgettable was the breathtaking view of the limestone enclaves and the waterfall. Throughout the trip, one would not only have a feast for the eyes but also get to experience new things like caving and standing on atop a waterfall. These are truly experiences that one can be proud of when they share it with their friends and family.

Endau Rompin National Park is the second largest national park in Peninsular Malaysia after Taman Negara that is located at an area south of Pahang and northeast of Johor. The park houses one of the oldest tropical rainforest complexes in the world and features rock formations that are reputed to be some 248 million years old. Apart from that, the park contains the largest remaining population of the threatened Sumatran rhinoceros species on the Malay Peninsula. Gunung Besar which is the second highest in Johor is also located in the park.

The park takes it name from the Endau and Rompin rivers that flow through the park. Other rivers that flow through the parks are Segamat, Selai and Jasin.

One would access the park via the Selai Entrance which is near the Johor side and enter via 4 wheeled drive vehicles. There are 4 main waterfalls in the park which are stunning and tranquil despite the rapid development of the area. A day’s trek should be enough to cover all the 4 waterfalls and truly soak in and appreciate the various flora and fauna of the park along the way. An amazing experience for anyone, memories were made here to be cherished forever.

Gunung Datuk - Negri Sembilan,Malaysia

Situated at the end of the Titiwangsa mountain range and situtated 2900 feet above sea level, this mountain is truly a place not to be missed by nature lovers and adventure seekers. The majority of the trek is through lush jungles and vegetations and is not for the faint hearted as it is quite a tough trek with the past going at very verticle angles at some points. However, one is rewarded at the summit with a breath-taking 360 degree view of the entire state. The huge boulders at the summit sweeten the deal further by letting one just lie down and gaze at the wonder of nature.

Round Island Kayaking Expedition - Singapore

Ever thought of kayaking around the perimeters of the Singapore coastline? That is approximately 120km of water to manoeuvre. Ever thought of looking a the tiny dot of the world map from a different perspective and see landmarks that one has never seen before?

The trip was started from the SP Adventurers base at Poly Marina, West coast park. The first day of the journey was from Raffles Marina to Tuas. We then pitched up and carted our cargo to sembawang park for the night and headed to East Coast Park for day two, with a stopover at Changi Beach. Day three was the home run from ECP back to Poly Marina, cruising by the flyer, Sentosa and Port of Singapore.

Northern Island Kayaking Expedition -  Singapore

A leisure weekend out in the sun and the seas definitely makes a good trip to relax the mind. We started our trip on the 1st day from Sembawang to Changi and pitched up at Changi beach for the night. We then took a trip around Pulau Ubin and saw great sights and scenery that would have been inaccessible on foot otherwise. We ended the trip on the third day from Changi to East Coast beach.

Berkelah Falls Trekking Trip - Kuantan, Malaysia

Berkelah meaning “Picnic” is located 50km out of Kuantan in the Berkelah forest reserve. The Berkelah falls is a series of cascading waterfalls with its highest one at 100m in height.
The main base camp is a relatively easy climb to get to. There however, you have to mauevere across a small river to actually get to the base camp. The water there is clean and fresh and you can even drink from it.
After having a short rest, you can then proceed to the main attraction of the trip, the trek up to the waterfall. The trek up is nothing short of breathtaking, literally. There will be times where you will be gasping at the beauty of the scenery and gasping at the danger in front of you for at times the route can be quite treacherous
All those scary and nerve wrecking moments will be all worth it though when you reach the waterfall. It is there that the water is at its coolest and where you can enjoy a bit of waterfall jumping on a large rock beside the pool.
An experience to remember, it is a trip definitely not to be missed.
